The broader focus of the seminar: Digital Assessment
This year, we’ve all had to adopt new practices to better suit the environment in which we and our students find ourselves and we’ve gone where higher education en bloc has not gone before: we’ve gone digital en masse!
This in turn has forced us to look at how we assess and how we use assessment in ways that can further support our students’ learning. We are now more interested in developing authentic assessment activities, in learning from our colleagues’ examples of good practices and in digital technologies that afford new ways of doing things that allow us to assess differently.
We already have some excellent assessment resources online and a growing number of good faculty-based guides as well as case studies about digital assessment. We have asked colleagues to suggest what else would be useful. A clear message has come back. We need a way to access everything we have about assessment in more systemic, connected ways. This ‘Connections seminar’ outlines where we are in terms of being able to provide a central digital assessment platform with key links to the multiplicity of existing resources.
