The moving-out phase of our students’ learning journey is the process associated with leaving UNSW and beginning the transition into a new setting such as starting work or enrolling in postgraduate studies. Students at this moving-out phase experience feelings of grief. They might be fearful of the unknown because they are leaving behind familiar surroundings, people and structures that they have grown accustomed to. With COVID-19, these unknowns are magnified and amplified with media reports of the inevitable increase in unemployment and recruitment freezes in certain industry sectors.

Being mindful of this specific student segment and the current COVID-19 environment, the Student Academic and Career Success (SACS) team at PVCE has levelled up focus and attention on learning assistance programs, with the purpose of reducing students’ feelings of grief and, for some, a heightened concern of their future post COVID-19. SACS has also purposively transformed these learning assistance programs from an in-person experience to a fully online experience, recognising and sustaining the principles of humanising education, accessibility and being inclusive to activate meaningful and significant student experience.

These learning assistance programs include:

  • UNSW Career Mentoring Program
A 12 week, AHEGS accredited, SACS program delivered in partnership with the UNSW Alumni and Engagement Division.
