With T1 behind us it is clear that, worldwide, nobody has been unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been inspirational to witness collective compassion and fighting spirit as we work together to overcome obstacles and support those in need. We thank our students for their persistence and for adapting with us in challenging times.
With T2 underway and plans to return to campus in the pipeline, Student Academic and Career Success (SACS) have purposively planned a suite of learning assisted services with a mission to re-engage students so that they can continue to thrive in the UNSW learning environment and the world of work.
The suite of learning assisted programs and activities are:
Academic Improvement Module (AIM)
A self-paced Moodle module designed to support students who are not academically ready and may want to improve their academic standing.
The module guides students to reflect on their learning journey and reach a point where they can identify and seek the relevant student support services to support their learning needs. The student support services auxiliary to SACS include Student Support, Equitable Learning Services, International Student Experience Unit (ISEU), Wellbeing, Health and Safety, Academic Skills Support, Financial Assistance, and The Peer Support Program.
Online for you: Own your academic and career success with SACS
This is a program designed to complement UNSW’s inaugural adoption of Flexible Week in Week 6, T2 (6-10 July). An online self-assessment tool will enable students to receive tailored Academic Skills and Career Planners. Adaptive and personalised learning concepts are being experimented to re-engage students to seize the opportunities provided by SACS for them to pursue their academic and career goals.
This year’s Mid-Year Career Expo will be delivered online, offering similar experience to that of an in-person/physical expo experience.
Students can participate in:
- 1:1 live video chat with employers,
- attend live-streamed presentations, and
- employers can “approach” any student logged into the platform on the day.
This program connects industry leaders and employers with students outside their typical recruitment disciplines. Each event aims to introduce students to topics of relevance shaping industry and the world of work, helping them to learn about and explore different careers. The topics are derived from and voted on by our students themselves. The inaugural event on 16 June was about “Tech skills for non-tech students”.
The upcoming event in July will be “Emotional Intelligence and how to use it to Succeed”.
